10 April 2024
From the Acting Principal
Two school days to go and Term 1 will be complete! Wow – what a busy term of learning we have had.
Term 1 has seen many things happening including the build starting, surfing, excursions and incursions, NAPLAN, Learning Plan reviews with families, inquiry planning with David Gilkes, the CPS athletics carnival and interschool athletics just to name a few!
At the start of the year, we launched our EAGLES framework for our Cambridge Capabilities. We designated the first three weeks of our school year to revisiting the CCs we have already learnt about and getting to know our new classmates and teachers. In week 9 we launched Concentrating as our 15th Cambridge Capabilities. Concentrating is defined as maintaining focus despite distractions. In Term 2 we will continue with our Cambridge Capabilities, launching the next capability which will be Critiquing.
Build Update
Term 1 has seen our build take off! A significant amount of work has already occurred, with the culmination of the pouring of the Kinder concrete slab. The new building on Cambridge Road will have its concrete slab poured this Friday.
Carpark Changes Friday 12 April – Concrete Pour
This Friday, 12April, our last day of Term 1, our carpark area where the buses pull in will be out of action due to the builders needing this space for the concrete to be poured. Buses will drop students off at alternative areas, supported by staff. Parents are asked to please be aware this area will not be available.
Stop Drop and Go
During Term 2 we will continue with our Stop, Drop and Go. We have sectioned off under the pine tree completely now so that the buses are able to exit safely. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation with these changes as our redevelopment continues to progress. We will continue to monitor and communicate any changes with you about this.
Dogs on School Grounds
A friendly reminder if parents or carers are bringing their dogs on to school grounds, for example, at pick up and drop off. We have a Risk Management Plan for this to be able to occur. For this to work, we request that:
Dogs are on leads
Any mess is cleaned up afterwards
If your dog is a bit “snappy” or older and grumpy, that you do not bring them on site
If your dog has a problem with other dogs, that you do not bring them on site
That you keep your dog off any seats or benches that humans may sit on as we have both students and adults in our community who are allergic to dogs.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Parent Teachers Meetings will be happening in week 4 of Term 2. Please see below for the booking link. All staff are looking forward to celebrating student learning with families.
ANZAC Day, Thursday 25 April 2024
A service will be held, as normal, at Cambridge Primary School on ANZAC day at 10am. Everyone is very welcome to attend.
Wishing all our students and families a well-deserved term break to rest and recharge after a busy Term 1. Mr Howard is back with us as of the start of Term 2 after his leave. We look forward to seeing everyone back ready for another great term of learning!
